Merriweather Post Pavilion Is Adding A Unique Seating Experience

2019 is already making itself known as a year of changes for Columbia, MD's own Merriweather Post Pavilion as they've been posting some cryptic images to their Instagram account showing off some construction 👀

Well, now we have answers...kind of!

The Baltimore Business Journal has reported that the amphitheater is adding "rooftop seating," but that is all that is allowed to be said according to Brad Canfield, Merriweather's Vice president of Operations. In addition, Canfield said that "[w]e are doing something nobody has ever done before," which should be revealed in the next two months.

The Baltimore Business Journal also reported that 30 suites (ranging from five to 20 seats) will be built on newly added concrete platforms and will cost at least $3,000 per seat.

This is all part of a five year, $50 million renovation plan. The mysterious rooftop seating and suites are part of "phase 4" and originally begun in fall 2017, only to be postponed by the roof collapsing last year. The plan as a whole is expected to be completed by May 2020.
