Travel From DC to NYC In 2 1/2 Hours Beginning This Fall

Soon enough, you'll be able to travel to New York City from Washington DC in just about 2.5 hours!

Amtrak just announced that this new commute will become available on Sept. 23 and that the ride will be an uninterrupted two hours and thirty five minutes from DC's Union Station to NYC's Penn Station and vice versa.

As of now, the train will only make one trip each way on weekdays, "departing New York at 6:35 a.m. and arriving in Washington at 9:10 a.m. and the northbound train departing Washington at 4:30 p.m. and arriving in New York at 7:05 p.m.," USA Today reports. The reported top speed of the train will be 135 MPH.

Tickets are available now and cost $130 each way.
