Corona Beer Halts Production Due To COVID-19

Wine Conglomerate Constellation Brands Buys Corona From Anheuser-Busch InBev

It is no coincidence that the coronavirus has made it's way to halting production of Corona beer in Mexico.

Grupo Modelo, the company that produces Corona, has revealed that they are stopping production and marketing efforts of the product to comply with the Mexican government's order for non-essential businesses to seize operations amid the pandemic. This order will be enforced at least throughout the month of April.

Breweries are considered to be non-essential in Mexico, but Group Modelo says that they are prepared to put together a plan to "guarantee the supply of beer" if the government decides to change their mind and deem them essential.

According to Forbes, "Grupo Modelo operates 11 breweries in Mexico and makes Modelo and Pacifico beers for 180 countries."
