New Mask Requirement Put Into Effect For Washington DC

D.C.'s public health emergency was originally slated to end on April 24 but has since been extended to May 15. During her press conference, Mayor Bowser explained “I don’t know if that means we will be open on May 16, but it will be a point for us to check in. And if we need to extend it beyond that, we certainly will."

In addition, new mask requirements will be put into effect in Washington DC:

  • hotel workers, guests & visitors
  • those using taxis, ride shares and private transportation
  • workers and customers of food sellers
  • strongly encouraged for workers and those using public transportation
