HELLOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

First, thanks for visiting my page!  I feel weird "pimping it" on the radio.  But, it all seems worthless if nobody sees it...right?  My name is Jeffrey Tyler Mason, but since people that use 3 names are generally serial killers, let's stick to Jeffro (a nickname given to me by a weird boss I had 15 years ago).  Sure, it sounds a lot like "Jethro," but it is NOT.  I am neither a Clampett nor a Tull!

I do my little dog & pony show from 4-8pm weekday afternoons here on 98.7 WMZQ.  I moved here after 3 years in Ft. Lauderdale (bye bye 80 degree Winters), though I am no stranger to DC - having lived just up the road in Central PA for much of my life.  I used to make monthly trips to the Inner Harbor in Baltimore, and then onto DC for dinner.  ALWAYS loved it here.  And, so excited to actually LIVE here now!  Over the years, I've lived all over our fine US of A (radio is sooooo stable) including Chicago, Philly, Dallas, Pittsburgh, and every other city, town, village, borough & burgh in Pennsylvania.  I went to high school and started my radio career in the charming hamlet of Reading, PA.

While it's my job to entertain and inform, please know it's YOUR show!  I would LOVE your input...whether by phone: 1-800-505-0098 or by e-mail: jeffro@WMZQ.com.  Don't EVER hesitate to drop me a line!  I go a little batty being in the studio alone for four hours.  I'd SO love to hear what's up with you.  Besides, your life is probably FAR more interesting than mine.  So, let's talk about it!

MEET KARINA!

Jenni Chase and I were SO excited to meet 8 year-old Karina at our St. Jude Radiothon!  She's a 5 year cancer SURVIVOR - thanks to St. Jude and YOU.  See?  Your donations DO save lives!

AFTER "BEFORE HE CHEATS"

So, I think we can ALL agree that the scumbag in Carrie Underwood's "Before He Cheats" was in the wrong.  But, for the sake of fairness, shouldn't we hear the REST of the story?  My friend Fitz from Seattle's 100.7 The Wolf has provided Part 2 of the song.  I played it on the show, and the phones went WILD!  "How can I get that song?"  Just click below...and enjoy!

WANNA HEAR WHAT THE STARS HAD TO SAY?

Stand up to Cancer!
Wednesday 08-20-2008 10:36am ET

I may have mentioned here in a blog that I lost my mom to Cancer in 1997.  Because of that, I support anything and everything that tries to find a cure and BEAT this evil disease.  I thought I'd pass along the latest I found.

"Just Stand Up" is a brand new song featuring MANY of the biggest female singers today.  It benefits the Stand Up to Cancer campaign. We're talking BIG names like Carrie Underwood, LeAnn Rimes, Miley Cyrus, Sheryl Crow, Melissa Etheridge, Mariah Carey and more.

The song will be available exclusively on iTunes on September 2 and will get its TV premiere on September 5 during the live "Just Stand Up" special - commercial free on CBS, ABC and NBC!

Among the stars confirmed on the TV broadcast are: Casey Affleck, Jennifer Aniston, Christina Applegate, Lance Armstrong, Abigail Breslin, Josh Brolin, David Cook, Dana Delany, Fran Drescher, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Kirsten Dunst, Elizabeth Edwards, Jon Favreau, America Ferrera, Neil Patrick Harris, Salma Hayek, Scarlett Johansson, Masi Oka, Danica Patrick, Christina Ricci, Robin Roberts, Homer Simpson, Marge Simpson, Meryl Streep, Hilary Swank, Charlize Theron, Goran Visnjic, Forest Whitaker and Reese Witherspoon.

News anchors Charles Gibson, Katie Couric and Brian Williams will report on potentially life-saving research and speak with Cancer patients and scientists.  DON'T MISS THIS SHOW!!!  I thank you, and my mom thanks you.
Raisin McCain - the video.
Monday 08-18-2008 12:41pm ET

A couple weeks ago, I told you about John Rich's new song for Republican Presidential candidate, John McCain.  We even did an anonymous poll that showed 67% of you planning to vote for McCain.  Now, there is a video for "Raisin' McCain."  Wanna see it?  Click the player above.

And, remember, I'm as "fair and balanced" as anyone.  Once a song is written for Barack Obama - along with an accompanying video by a country star - I'll post it right here!
Tivo Alert!

This will run on Channel 7 on 9/7/08.  The show will feature the artists performing for troops at bases around the world. Other artists in the show include Snoop Dogg, Janet Jackson and Jordin Sparks.
Letters...oh we get letters...

I thought I'd share this e-mail from loyal listener Todd:

I know how you've been keeping track of the "celebrity death trifecta" on your WMZQ page. Well, yet another celebrity has passed, although he's lesser known than most. Don Helms, former steel guitarist for Hank Williams Sr. passed away sometime in the last few days. He was known as being the first person to make a steel guitar solo famous. He's worked with Hank Sr.'s daughter, Jett, for the past few years. It was said that he recently worked with Taylor Swift too. I was fortunate enough to spend some time with him and Jett about 8 years ago when I spent a weekend at Jett's recording studio outside of Nashville... I guess it's time to start a new trifecta, it's strange how they always seem to go in 3's.

I'm not sure he's quite CDT material, as the lead vocalist usually is the "celeb," but DEFINITELY worth noting.  Thanks so much for your e-mail, Todd.

Grill with Phil!
Friday 08-15-2008 4:40pm ET

Have you heard of FunnyOrDie.com?  That's Will Ferrell's website.  Some real hilarity lives there, but parents - some may be a bit much for the kids.  As always, POLICE THE INTERNET!

Anyway, Will's team got together with Phil Vassar and released a video of his grilling tips.  There's still time to use them this Summer!  Check it out above :-)
Look good in Keith's shirt!
Friday 08-15-2008 4:08pm ET

Keith Urban, Carrie Underwood, Josh Turner, LeAnn Rimes and Dolly Parton are auctioning the shirts off their backs for charity. The You Look Good in My Old T-Shirt Auction gives fans the opportunity to bid on autographed T-shirts once worn by the stars. Keith says, "My friends in the community have joined me in digging out some of our old T-shirts that we may have worn on stage or just around town, and we're putting them up for auction." Bids can be placed at KeithUrbanAuction.com. All proceeds benefit St. Jude Children's hospital.
