If there is a year that is special to you, tell us about it and we'll share the details or your feelings.

Maybe you got married that year, or moved here, had a baby, broke up with someone, graduated from college or high school.  What song reminds you of that key event in your life?  What singer takes you back there like a time machine.

Click here to tell me what you were up to in any year, what song takes you back to that year instantly, introduce yourself, say Hi or just make a request.

Hank Sr.'s Steel Player Dies
Friday 08-15-2008 12:37am ET

The unsung hero of many a country song is the steel guitar player.  You rarely hear a steel player’s name but you definitely hear their work.

The name of the steel guitar player on more than 100 of Hank Williams’s songs is Don Helms.  He died this week at age 81.  Helms’ performance on classics like “Cold Cold Heart” and “Your Cheatin’ Heart” is almost as significant as Hank’s singing.

Helms was named to the Steel Guitar Hall of Fame in 1984 and was still active in the Nashville music community.
